VCC curler skips Team BC to a medal at Canadian Seniors

VCC curler and board member Diane Gushulak (left) skipped Team BC to a bronze medal in the Everest Canadian Senior Curling Championships, Dec. 3-9 in Vernon. The team includes third Grace MacInnes, second Danielle Shaughnessy and lead Cori Atchison. Grace's sister Allison MacInnes (back row) was coaching the team. Gushulak and MacInnes played front end on the 2021 BC senior women's team, skipped by MaryAnne Arsenault, that finished second in the national championship.

 

VCC curlers represent Mexico at world doubles qualifier

VCC curlers Ismael Abreu and Estephana Quintero were curling for Mexico in the World Mixed Doubles Qualification Event in Dumfries, Scotland, Dec. 2-7. They finished the event with a 2-3 record in their pool that included Hungary, Hong Kong, Guyana, England and Slovenia.

Get your toe dipped over the Christmas break

VCC will be applying Tuff Toe to the trailing foot on curling shoes over the Christmas break for $40 including taxes. Leave your shoe in the pro shop by Monday, Dec. 18, and it will be ready for pick up on Friday, Dec. 29.

Over 40 people attended the first of three intermediate clinics on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Marpole CC. These clinics are headed by ACD (previously level 4) coach and Curl BC coaching course conductor Chris Summers. For more information and registration, click on the links below.

Registration open for Charity Skins Bonspiel

The 25th Barry Naimark Charity Skins Bonspiel will be held Mar. 8-10. Registration for the event is now open and the cost is $360 per team.
 
The bonspiel is supporting Camp Choice BC in raising funds over the next two years. Camp Choice BC’s purpose is to empower youth to create positive change in themselves and their communities by realizing the power of choice, responsibility and their effectiveness as positive leaders. Camp Choice BC gives 40-60 youth the opportunity to be kids for a week in a safe community of caring, loving adults. At-risk youth attend the camp and come from various communities and schools across British Columbia. Camp Choice BC works closely with various organizations and institutions to identify youth who would most benefit from the camp, and support them when they go back into their communities.

 

There will be 50/50 draws, a raffle and a silent auction and dinner on Saturday night.
