League Description:

The Monday Novice League (alternating 6:45 pm and 9:00 pm draw times) is suitable for someone who has been through a curling clinic or program or has limited curling experience. This is a fun league, as everyone in it is relatively new to curling and the Last Draw Lounge is open upstairs for socializing when your game is done.

The first five weeks of the program are devoted to curling instruction, then league play begins in week six. There are 23 weeks in total. The 2024-25 season will start on Sept. 23 and run until Apr. 7, with no curling on Sept. 30, Oct. 14, Dec. 23, Dec. 30, Feb. 10, and Feb. 17.

Participants may curl in the novice league for only two seasons, then they are asked to move on to other Vancouver Curling Club leagues to make room for other new curlers in the league.

Registration:

League registration is CLOSED for the 2024/25 season.

Players interested in playing can still register as Spares for the Novice and Intermediate club-run leagues.

League Rules:

 - The league follows the General Rules of Play as published by Curling Canada with the exception that VCC is NOT using the 'No Tick Rule'.

- The bell will sound when there is 25 minutes left in game play which generally means you finish the current end and play one more. Let's all be sure we are watching the clock and trying to keep game play moving along steadily. Also please respect the schedule and clear your sheet by the end of our scheduled ice time (8:45 PM for early draw and 11:00 PM for the late draw).

- All teams can bring in spares to play when they are down players, spares should always take on lead or second positions. To respect the novice league level of play we do not want to see teams bringing in advanced players to skip their teams.
