The Executive Committee, Board of Directors and General Manager have been working hard to plan for the 2020-21 season.  The situation is dynamic, so planning has been difficult.  But we have progressed.

The club cannot open until allowed by Hillcrest Centre/Vancouver Parks Board.  Hillcrest won’t consider allowing us to open until after it opens other parts of the facility and judges how that goes – not until mid-October, at the earliest.  Even if we get word then, it would be impractical and imprudent to try to open for a few weeks before Christmas.

So, we are planning to open in January, 2021. We are optimistic that will happen, but we can’t be certain.  We’d curl for 17 weeks.  We want the lounge open, too, but we’ll have to see if that will work.

We have developed a thorough and well-designed safety plan.  The plan awaits approval by Hillcrest.

The other thing we’ll need is curlers!  We are communicating with your league reps (next meeting is Sept. 16), so please communicate with them to get details on what curling will look like this year. We are optimistic we’ll have enough members willing to commit by November to our abbreviated season.

We hope to see you on the ice again in January!
