Thursday Open League teams win at the VCC Championship
Thursday Open League teams came out on top in both events of the annual VCC Championship, April 8-10. Two Thursday Open League teams made the championship final with the Richard Brower team defeating the Chris Gomes team. Up one with hammer in the final end, the Brower team clogged up the four-foot to prevent the Gomes team from stealing to tie the game. The Gomes team (third Patrick Prade, second Marty Perry, lead Brian Cole) won the Thursday Open League title this season. The Brower team narrowly defeated another Thursday Open League team skipped by Keith Switzer in an extra-end semi-final that needed a laser measurement to decide the score in the eighth end.
The Brock Tully team lost the first game of the championship in a Thursday Open League matchup against the Brower team, but then won four straight games to win the B event final. Down three with hammer, playing the final end against Clayton Bergquist's Pacific Rim Curling League team (Steeve Lepage, Adam Tumilson, Duncan McGillivray, Peter Greenwell), the Tully team scored four to grab the win.
There were 32 teams in the championship with the majority of VCC leagues represented. Four wild card teams were drawn to complete the field.

The team only got in the night before, winning a draw to be the third Thursday Open League team in the championship.

The annual VCC membership survey is now available online to gather feedback on the Vancouver Curling Club's operations. As a membership-based organization, everyone’s input is important to create a curling club that works for our members today and is in a position to grow in a positive manner for our future members.
All survey answers are anonymous, unless a member chooses to include personal contact info for follow up by the membership & communications committee for further elaboration.

VCC leagues have wrapped up for the season. Below are winners of some league championships.

PRCL hosts doubles bonspiel
VCC curlers win Chilliwack bonspiel
VCC curlers, mostly from the Motors and Shamrock leagues, were a dominant force at the Close the Barn Door Spiel in Chilliwack, March 25-27. The team pictured above won the A event. Left to right are Paul Keelan, Emily McMillan, Peter Lee and Dwayne Wright. There were five VCC teams on hand. The Motors League team of Jerry McKenzie, Rob Goble, Selwyn Alexander and Bill McGinty was second in the B event. The team of Kris Wright, James Gardner, Floyd Bardell and Sean Wong reached the C semi-finals. VCC teams won over a third of the prize money, which is pretty impressive considering there were 48 teams in the bonspiel.
Practice ice still available

VCC closed Good Friday and Easter Monday
Easter falls on the April 16-17 weekend this year, when league play is finished. The club will close on Friday, April 15 and Monday, April 18, but be open on both Saturday and Sunday for practice, rentals and learn-to-curl programming.
