Team Gibson are Provincial Champions

Team Gibson - featured left to right: fourth Rebecca Turley, skip Amy Gibson, second Carman Cheng and lead Michelle Dunn - are bringing home two new championship banners to the Club as they captured both the 2013 BC Dominion Club Challenge and the 2013 Pacific International Cup (PIC).

The team completed a busy few days this past Sunday by playing their 20th game in nine days, including playing and winning six games alone on Saturday and Sunday as they marched through the playoffs.

Team Gibson started the event with a number of ups and downs through the round-robin, and faced a must-win scenario in their final game to ensure a place in the tie-breakers. They came through both that game and their tie-breaker game with some great shot-making and strong results to head to the playoffs on a high note.

They started the playoffs on Sunday with a semi-final win over Golden Ears, captured the BC Dominion title over Comox Valley and then defeated Washington State for the PIC crown. With their successful week at the Richmond Curling Centre, Team Gibson will now represent the province and the VCC this fall in Thunder Bay at the national Dominion Club Championships.

The BC Dominion Club Challenge features the best men's and women's club curling teams from across the province and is part of the concurrently-running Pacific International Cup, whereby the winners of the best teams from the western US play the best of BC in the PIC final.
