Switzer skips team to BC masters title

VCC curler Keith Switzer isn't getting older, he's getting better! A long- time competitive men's curler who had never won a provincial championship until skipping a VCC team to the BC mixed championship in 2014, Keith has now won the BC masters men's championship for curlers 60 years and over.

Keith's team from Richmond CC (Vic Shimizu, Ben Nishi, Wayne Saito) defeated 2011 Canadian masters champion Garry Gelowitz of Kelowna 8-7 in an extra end Sunday, Mar. 12 at the Abbotsford CC. They also advanced from the semi-final with an extra end win over Ralph Will of Cranbrook.

The foursome now heads to the Canadian masters championship, April 4-10 in Nova Scotia.

Keith died twice on the ice at last season's BC mixed doubles championship after suffering a heart attack. He was brought back to life both times with quick help from others and the use of an AED.
