Blind and Visually Impaired Team Advances to Westerns

In mid-January, a competitive Blind and Visually Impaired team from the Vancouver Curling Club placed second in the West Coast Blind Curling Championships. The Bonspiel took place in Kelowna and is an event these curlers prepare for and look forward to every year. The Comozzi Rink, composed of Rob Camozzi (Skip), Eugene Amberg (Third), Fraser Hiltz (Second), Linda Weber (Lead), and Jim Hall (Coach & Guide) won a berth in the Western Blind Championships taking place Feb. 24th to 28th in Lanigan, Saskatchewan.

The Camozzi rink was also honoured with the Caribou Spirit Award (pictured here). Caribou Spirit is voted on by all the participants and presented to the team with the best sportsmanship throughout the bonspiel.

Congrats team Camozzi, and thank you to Carol Kent, Jim Hall, and Dave Sawrey for being such a huge support structure for our Blind and Visually Impaired curlers.

The Blind and Visually Impaired League curls every Wednesday from 12pm-2pm and is in need of sweepers and guides to volunteer. For more information or to put your name forward, please contact Carol: carolkent (at) telus (dot) net
