The calendar has turned to September so it's time to start thinking about curling and actually getting back out on the ice. To help ease you into the new season, the club is pleased to present a number of special events during the month of September.
SEPT 11 - Welcome Back Members' BBQ...
a chance to enjoy some food & drink, catch up with fellow members and work off the summer rust out on the ice.
Even though it's mid-August, and another warm spell is upon us, it's time to start thinking about the new curling season!
While ice plant will soon be fired up, and our head ice technician - Don - will begin the ice installation process, the club's board of directors, committees and our general manager - Chris - have been working hard over the summer.
The VCC Board of Directors for the 2010-2011 season had their first board meeting on June 10th and a new executive has been elected. The club's president for the 2010-2011 season will be Jen Lucas, the vice president will be Art Hawkins, the treasurer is Gordon Arai and the secretary is Dan May. For a complete board listing for the 2010-2011 directors, please click here.
Thank you to all of the club members who attended the 2010 Annual General Meeting on June 1st. Everyone's comments, questions and feedback during the meeting were much appreciated as your opinions and participation are vital for a membership-driven organization like ours to thrive and succeed.
Congratulations to the new board members who were elected during the AGM, and thank you to last year's directors for their contributions. Additional thank you to the efforts of all the club's staff during a very busy 2009/10 season.

2010 Annual General Meeting
June 1, 2010 at 7:30pm
Location: The Last Draw Lounge at the VCC
It's AGM time again, so this a reminder to mark your calendars to come out and play your part in shaping the future of the VCC. Your opinions and participation are vital for a membership-driven organization like ours to thrive and succeed.
To the VCC members, coaches and volunteers,
Thank you for a great 2009-10 curling season. The only drawback, though, is that it is now officially over.
Members, coaches and volunteers: if it was not for your cooperation this season I would not have been able to do my job and, for that, I am quite grateful. There were probably many days during the season where the last thing you needed was to see me approaching you with my gleaming look but, members, you all were always accommodating.
Congratulations to Team Faa! For the second straight year, skip Chris Faa led his team to the title of Club Champions. Curling with his Thursday Open team in this year's event, Chris was joined by third Brad Blackwell, second Sean Ramsay and lead Steve Lewis as they captured the title in the A Final over Team Bos, also of the Thursday Open League.
In the B Final, Team Juniors (from the club's junior program) captured the B title with a spirited win over Team McGregor of the Pharmacists and Travelers League. Our B Champions, from the Junior Program, were a team of three made up of skip Harry Yau, third Maxim Langlais and and second Aaron Lao.

Now that the Olympic and Paralympic Games are over, we wanted to make sure that all club members are aware of a couple of items:
First, all club members who purchased an early-bird membership pass for Games-time access are able to receive a refund starting on Monday, March 28th. Refunds will be processed between 11am until 6pm each day, and anyone who purchased a pass is entitled to a refund less $1.00 - due to the pricing restructure.
Second, we want to make sure that all club members are that fund-raising for the Capital Development Fund continues through until the end of season.
We have our unique Team Canada Raffle where you can win a chance for a one hour curling lesson with a member from either Team Martin or Team Bernard (as well as many more fabulous prizes).
Please click here to learn more, and be sure to purchase your tickets from the bar or from the office for a chance to win and to support the club at the same time.
A message from VCC Club President, Jan Bos...
Today marks our first day back from the league hiatus, and we are looking forward to another month and a half of curling at the Vancouver Curling Club.
I wanted to take this opportunity to provide the membership with an update on: * the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, * our Team Canada Raffle, and * a difficult decision recently made by the board regarding the Barry Naimark Charity Skins Bonspiel.
As the Olympic Games come to a close, the VCC would like to congratulate Team Martin and Team Bernard on their Gold and Silver medals. We were pleased to work with the CCA to help provide a home for Team Canada and their families during the 2010 Winter Games... and we are looking forward to cheering on Team Armstrong at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.
