Pink Broom Bonspiel: "Rock the Rainbow"!

On Saturday, Nov. 16, join us for Vancouver’s most colourful curling event of the year!

Dressed in the colours of the rainbow, teams of eight will compete in a “Continental Cup” style event, earning points in three different curling disciplines: standard 4-person curling rules, doubles, and skins. The Pink Broom also features a skills competition, with teams earning points for successful draws and hits.

Harvest Spiel - Thompson Rink are Champions!

The 2013 Harvest Bonspiel took over the VCC this past weekend. We were pleased to host a sold-out event with 32 teams, and were excited to welcome visitors from Portland, Seattle, Ottawa, and Massachusetts, plus teams from Richmond CC and Delta CC as well as VCC teams representing 11 of the Club's different leagues.

Harvest Bonspiel

Registration is now full for the 2013 Harvest Bonspiel. If any additional teams would like to be on the wait list, register online ASAP.

Registered teams can click here for the draw, weekend schedule and more details on the Club's first bonspiel of the 2013-2014 season.

Interested in being a spare for the event? E-mail the committee with your name, e-mail address and phone number.

Looking for a League?

The VCC has 20 different leagues running this season, and there is a full range of competitive and social opportunities for everyone young and old. While some of our leagues are already full with a waiting list for the season, others have space and are ready to welcome new members. A complete summary of the Club's leagues is available by clicking here.

New to Curling?

The Vancouver Curling Club provides opportunities for all levels of curlers to enjoy the roaring game; we have opportunities for people to try the sport in clinics or group rentals, and we also have a wide range of leagues – from beginner to competitive. If you are looking to learn more about the game and how you can get involved at the VCC, click here for complete details.

Everyone Welcome at our Open Houses

Start the 2013-14 season off right by visiting the club in the first half of September for one of our public Open Houses. Bring your friends and family to come try the sport of curling, learn about the VCC and what we have to offer, and much more during our next Open Houses on Sept. 14 from 10am to 4pm.

Get Tuned Up for the Season

You can work off the summer rust with the different clinics we have on offer, and we still have one more week of learning opportunities. The Basic Skills Clinic is a two-evening affair on Sept. 16 & 17, and our Intermediate Clinic is one-evening on Sept. 18.

Building Our Junior Program

Our growing Junior Development Program is looking to expand so we are seeking curlers 10-18 years old to join our Junior Development program. The program runs on Saturday mornings and provides young curlers a chance to learn the game, develop skills and have fun. To learn more about the league and to register, check out the Junior Development page here.

2013-2014 Calendar is online

While the calendar officially became summer last month, the Club's staff and Board of Directors are already looking ahead to next season.

If you are interested in learning more about all of the events planned for the 2013-2014 season at the VCC, please visit our events listings.

Once you visit the events page, you will find a full schedule from September 2013 to June 2014, with many of the events hyperlinked so you can find complete details.

Planning for our major bonspiels will take place over the summer so we will turn on the event registration functionality later this summer once everything is finalized; then so you can ensure you sign up early and don't miss out on any of our 'spiels before they sell out. In the meantime, take a look at the clinics and open houses we have planned to open the season in September (and you can even register today for any of this coming season's clinics).

Enjoy the expected summer sunshine, but be sure to mark off your own personal calendar with all of the VCC events that interest you for the 2013-2014 season.

2013 AGM Wrap-up

Thank you to all Club members who attended the 2013 Annual General Meeting on June 5. Everyone's comments and feedback during the meeting were appreciated as members' opinions and participation are vital for a membership-driven organization like ours to thrive and succeed.

Additional kudos are also extended to the Club's staff and all members who volunteered their time for the positive contributions made during our recently-completed 100th anniversary season.

Now that the summer is upon us, be sure to check back online regularly as more details about next season will be added over the coming weeks. And, if you haven't already, be sure to follow us on Facebook - facebook.com/vancurl - and on Twitter - @vancurling.

Lastly, any members who have suggestions and/or are interested in helping out next year as a coach, committee volunteer or supporting one of our events, please do not hesitate to contact Willa or Brad for more details or to provide your name.
